Overview
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Senior Commercial Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland. The role focuses on the financial management of the MEH scope of NZT from inception through tendering, negotiation, and contract delivery, within the project delivery team.
Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial and financial success of the NZT project, including risk management, procurement, contract management, financial reporting and supply chain management.
* Develop and manage a commercial team; act as a mentor/role model to others on the journey to professional qualification (Chartered Member of RICS, ICES or CIOB) and maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Governance: adhere to the Company’s governance and maximise LEAN/digital opportunities.
* Commercial Management: understand the bigger picture, monitor economic factors affecting the construction industry, and liaise with legal experts as needed.
* Prepare estimates & tender submissions; interpret specifications and preambles; represent financial and contractual interests in client meetings; respond proactively to customer requirements.
* Manage commercial aspects with suppliers, customers and stakeholders to keep tasks/projects on plan.
* Coordinate buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions.
* Manage and report Commercial Risk and Opportunity; manage disallowed costs.
* Provide commercial input to Buildability and Value Engineering reviews; feedback commercial data to Planning and Estimating; maximize digital opportunities.
* Support tender reviews & cost data; manage preparation of Target Cost for a project; coordinate the commercial team on programme issues and actions.
* Manage preparation and review of Earned Value Management; prepare monthly Cost and Value Reconciliation (CVR) and associated commercial reports; report on the commercial aspects of a project.
* Coordinate feedback of commercial data to Planning, Estimating, Marketing and Sales.
Qualifications
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
* Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards).
* CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
