We are currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation based in Birmingham, who are recruiting for a Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysison a permanent basis. The position is due to start immediately, and the salary on offer is between £52,000-£60,500.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant and have relevant experience within the public sector.
1. Delivering the month-end closedown process, ensuring deadlines are met and issues resolved promptly
2. Preparing and presenting monthly management accounts to the Executive Team
3. Producing monthly income and expenditure variance analysis for management review
4. Supporting the external audit process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
5. Leading the annual budget-setting process (c.£335m income) and five-year forecast, including reporting to the Finance Committee and Board of Governors
6. Developing and maintaining the five-year forecast model, incorporating balance sheet and cash flow forecasts
7. Reviewing and improving income forecasting (c.£260m), ensuring accuracy
Experience required:
8. Experience required in a similar role within the public sector
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
9. Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA)
10. Ability to communicate detailed financial information clearly and present this straightforwardly to non-financial specialists
11. Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel skills and knowledge of finance/accounting systems such as Oracle and/other corporate information systems
