Toolmaker / Mechanical Engineering Project Role – Product Development Focus
Are you a hands-on engineer with a background in toolmaking or mechanical design?
We’re working exclusively with a highly innovative engineering business that is growing their product development team. Our client operates in a regulated, high-quality manufacturing environment and is looking for a technically minded individual to support the design and development of production tooling and fixtures for new and existing product lines.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end engineering projects—from initial concept through to testing and implementation—while developing your skills in both workshop and CAD environments.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Leading the design and development of production tooling and fixtures, working closely with manufacturing and senior engineers
* Creating and refining tooling using toolroom/workshop-based machinery
* Managing small-scale projects and ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
* Producing technical documentation including drawings, part lists, and usage instructions
* Assisting in the development of product test methods, including data analysis
* Collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams such as Quality and Sales
* Occasionally travelling within the UK or internationally to support project implementation
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong hands-on experience with toolroom/workshop machinery
* Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
* Either a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design, or a time-served background in Tool Design or Toolmaking
* Excellent communication and documentation skills (MS Office & Adobe tools)
* A self-starter with a practical approach and attention to detail
Why Apply?
* A unique role that blends toolmaking, mechanical design, and project engineering
* Full training and support from experienced senior engineers
* A highly collaborative and supportive team environment
* Opportunities to develop both technical and leadership skills
* Work on innovative, real-world projects in a regulated, quality-driven industry
If you're an engineer who enjoys hands-on development, creating tools and solutions from scratch, and taking ownership of technical challenges, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
