Job Description
As Head of Service Children & Family Social Care, you will provide senior strategic and operational leadership across defined areas of the services, taking a lead role in the development and implementation of services and strategies which promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people across the borough.
You will have responsibility for maintaining high performance and driving continual improvement within our social work teams. You will support the Service Director and develop operational relationships, shaping the right services and outcomes for families.
This post also carries responsibility for the Children & Family Social Care services, including Children in Need, Children subject to Child Protection Plans, Court work, and the Disabled Children Service. The service structure includes both Service and Team Managers.
Responsibilities
* Lead strategic planning and operational management of the Children & Family Social Care Service.
* Develop and implement services and strategies to promote welfare of children, young people, and families.
* Maintain high performance, ensuring continual improvement of social work teams.
* Provide support to the Service Director and develop operational relationships.
* Oversee Children in Need, Child Protection, Court work, and Disabled Children Service.
Qualifications
* Degree level education or equivalent.
* Registration with Social Work England as a social worker.
* Relevant experience working within statutory, regulatory, and inspection regimes of the public sector.
* Sound understanding of the legislative and policy framework for services to children, families, and young people.
* Extensive professional knowledge of social work processes and interventions.
* Proven communication and operational management skills at service manager or equivalent level within a large agency.
* Demonstrated ability to anticipate and plan for future developments and a passion for improving outcomes.
Other Requirements
Fluency in English to an appropriate standard.
Enhanced DBS Check and Police Vetting Check required. Overseas candidates must arrange criminal records checks from the countries where they have lived in the last five years. A valid visa is required; the organisation does not sponsor visas.
Pensions regulations may affect pension entitlements upon commencing employment.
