SCADA & P&C Engineer
6 month contract outside IR35
A leading organisation within the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced SCADA & P&C Contractor to support the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in high-profile utility-scale battery storage and solar PV projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing SCADA supplier relationships, preparing and reviewing RFQs and ERs, and developing initial SCADA designs. Your role will include:
* Producing detailed communications schematics, cable schedules, and signal lists
* Coordinating with secondary equipment suppliers and grid specialists
* Developing SCADA HMI systems and supporting site SCADA issues
* Applying excellent understanding of communication protocols such as DNP3, IEC61850, Modbus and IEC 60870-5-104
In the Protection and Control (P&C) space, your responsibilities will include:
* Creating interlocking schemes up to 132kV and Bills of Materials
* Conducting technical calculations and preparing control philosophy reports
* Developing configuration files for IEDs and AVCs
* Supporting FATs, vendor drawing reviews, and site issue resolutions
* Providing support for standardisation and secondary design reviews
Essential Criteria
* Proven ability to use CAD efficiently for design work (non-negotiable)
* At least 5 years of experience in Protection and Control
* Previous experience in PV projects and EHV substation design up to 132kV
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and relevant tools such as MICOM S1 Agile, PCM600 and Digsi 5
* In-depth understanding of BSEN, IEC, ENA, CIGRE, IEEE standards and DNO requirements
* Strong grasp of engineering design principles and construction methodologies
