Senior Design Engineer Location: Shalesmoor, Sheffield S3, South Yorkshire Salary: £40k to £50K ( Bonuses) Hours per Week: 40 Monday to Thursday: 7.30am to 5.00pm Friday: 8.30am to 12.30pm Are you someone who takes pride in their work? The role: The role is for an experienced / senior design engineer to work in support of the fabrication department in an semi-autonomous role to produce designs for both standard and bespoke equipment used in the quality control / NDT sector. This includes chemical processing lines, drying ovens, spray booths, blackout enclosures and specialist magnetic inspection benches. The successful candidate would be working as part of a team through from initial concept designs working with technical sales, through to production alongside electrical design and installation. No previous experience in quality control / NDT is required specifically as in-house training will be given. Experience Required: 1. A history of designing roller track lines / frames and tanks / spray booths to a high standard is highly advantageous. 2. Confident materials knowledge, particularly of stainless steel and mild steel – Down to 1.5mm sheet. 3. Hands-on knowledge and understanding of engineering and fabrication process including welding. 4. Good awareness of engineering best practices and safety regulations. 5. Familiarity with basic mechanical systems including motor, sprocket and chain systems. 6. Knowledge and competency of understanding and designing pneumatic systems (Benefical but not essential). 7. CAD Skills / Producing technical drawings (Ideally with AutoCAD Lite 2D). 8. Previous experience in a similar role is essential. 9. Clean UK Driving Licence The person: 1. A strong leader with confidence in their skills and knowledge to communicate effectively. 2. Able to work independently when required and integrate and communicate with the team. 3. A person who is confident prioritising different projects to the benefit of overall efficiency. 4. A keen learner with a natural curiosity to understand new things. 5. Comfortable contributing to design discussions with design personnel and technical sales.
