Key Responsibilities
Supporting the CMC department by ensuring identified operational and scientific tasks are carried out to a high standard by following outlined procedures/Instructions. Areas to be supported are Analytical Development, Process Development, Formulation and Stability.
1. Overseeing the maintenance/ servicing of basic laboratory equipment
2. Supporting Laboratory Operations Lead in ensuring all routine Technician tasks are complete
3. Notifying the Facilities team of building faults or problems
4. Maintaining laboratory glassware and consumable stock levels
5. Ensuring specified laboratory equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
6. Performing required experiments and assays
7. May bring specialist experience or expertise relating to a niche scientific area, which will be utilised and developed
8. Support in the communication and aid understanding of Operational improvements implemented by the Laboratory Operations team
Other Responsibilities
1. Operating in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety policies
2. Commitment to growing and learning labs skills to better support the work of the team
3. Proactively looking for strategies to improve departments operational efficiency
4. Mentoring junior technicians
5. Provide basic laboratory training to more junior technicians and scientists, and actively develop own knowledge, drawing on the experience of others and self-learning
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
1. Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook
2. Good Communication skills - Ensuring information and work is passed on correctly and in a timely way to those who depend on it
3. Shown flexibility and willingness to learn new techniques and practices
4. Following detailed instructions and protocols
5. Maintenance of accurate records
6. Teamwork - Working cooperatively as part of a team
7. Worked within a laboratory environment for 3+ years
8. Management of waste streams
9. Awareness of COSHH management
10. Shown a desire to provide material and practical support to scientists
11. Actively contributed in a diverse team environment
12. Shown a strong interest in progressing own knowledge in biological sciences
Desirable
1. EHS experience
2. Good manual handling techniques / training
Education & Qualifications
1. Required: GCSE or equivalent in a scientific discipline
2. Desirable: HNC in a scientific discipline or equivalent
