At Heathside Walton-on-Thames, we believe in nurturing a warm, inclusive, and aspirational community where both students and staff are encouraged to thrive.
We are seeking a dedicated, inspiring, and enthusiastic Teacher of Girls ‘Physical Education who is passionate about promoting physical activity, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on motivating young people, developing sporting skills, and fostering resilience, confidence, and sportsmanship.
We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and aspirational culture where purposeful learning is second nature. Our PE curriculum promotes participation, challenge, and personal best, while our staff are encouraged to grow professionally and personally.
As a valued member of our PE team, you will benefit from:
•Opportunities to shape and develop your department: Play a key role in strengthening our girls’ PE and school sport provision as our school continues to grow.
•Career growth and development: Access high-quality training, mentorship, and clear pathways for progression.
•A meaningful impact on students’ futures: Contribute to developing healthy, active, and resilient young people through physical education and sport.
We strongly encourage interested candidates to arrange an informal tour of the school. Experiencing our excellent sports facilities and meeting our passionate staff is the best way to understand our ethos. To arrange a visit, please contact the Head of School, Mr Clark, via email.
The successful candidate will:
•Be confident teaching Girls’ Physical Education across Key Stages 3 and 4
•Deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons that inspire enjoyment and achievement in sport and physical activity
•Plan purposeful lessons that develop physical competence, teamwork, leadership, and resilience
•Use assessment effectively to support student progress and personal development
•Adapt teaching to ensure all learners—including less confident participants and high-performing athletes—can access and enjoy PE
•Contribute to a rich extracurricular programme, including school teams, clubs, fixtures, and sporting events.
We are deeply proud of the welcoming, aspirational culture we have built. With outstanding staff retention, this role forms part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every class is taught by a subject specialist as we continue to grow.
