We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our Services team across Sheffield and Sutton-in-Ashfield. Due to growth and increased demand from key sectors, including UK Rail, this results-driven leader will oversee operations at two established service centres: Sheffield (S9) and Sutton-in-Ashfield (NG17). This role offers an opportunity to enhance service delivery, performance, and operational excellence, focusing on the repair and overhaul of rotating equipment, traction motors, and components for the rail industry. Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Own the day-to-day operational performance across both sites, ensuring targets for output, quality, and cost are met.
2. Implement effective planning, resource management, and performance standards to support growth.
3. Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and service levels.
4. Promote safety excellence and regulatory compliance through active leadership.
5. Develop and motivate teams to foster a high-performance, collaborative culture aligned with Sulzer’s values.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proven experience in operations or production management, preferably in multi-site or complex service environments.
* Engineering background with knowledge of rotating equipment; rail sector experience is a plus.
* Strong commercial acumen with budget management, KPI driving, and business growth influence skills.
* NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualification, with proactive safety leadership.
* Collaborative, proactive leadership style, with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
