Principal Architect
UK Wide (Hybrid / Remote)
Up to £160,000 + 15% Bonus – Permanent
We’re looking for an experienced Principal Architect to take a hands-on leadership role in shaping and delivering large-scale digital solutions across critical industries. This is a Director-level position, blending technical leadership with practice growth, business development, and people leadership.
You’ll operate in a true consulting capacity: driving client engagement, leading architecture strategy, and rolling up your sleeves when needed to assure delivery. Alongside shaping solutions that impact millions, you’ll play a key role in growing the capability, mentoring future leaders, influencing technical standards, and supporting pre-sales activity.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading the design and delivery of complex, multi-tier solutions for high-profile clients
* Providing architectural assurance and direction to multi-disciplinary agile teams
* Building and managing senior client relationships, influencing outcomes at C-level
* Driving pre-sales, shaping bids and proposals, and supporting account growth
* Developing practice capability — mentoring architects, shaping standards, and thought leadership
* Remaining hands-on when required, ensuring technical depth and credibility
Experience required
* Proven consulting background — shaping and delivering solutions at enterprise scale
* Strong software engineering and architecture expertise (Java, .Net, Python or similar)
* Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), SaaS and PaaS architectures
* Track record in pre-sales, business development, and growing client accounts
* Experience leading teams of architects and engineers, with a focus on coaching and people development
* Commercial acumen — able to align technical solutions to business value and outcomes

* Recognised as a thought leader in architecture or technology communities
* Experience scaling practices or leading capability growth within consulting environments

* Up to £160,000 base salary
