Overview
Operations Director at Synergize Consulting Ltd – Principal Test Equipment Engineer, Edinburgh. The opportunity involves developing test equipment for cutting-edge defence and aerospace projects in the UK, including work on Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) systems within the CS3 customer support solutions at the Edinburgh site.
What you’ll do as a Principal Test Equipment Engineer
* Key contributor to the creation and delivery of the technical solution within a defined work package area, ensuring it meets all stakeholder requirements
* Development and deployment of test programs
* Hardware and software integration of test programs
* Design of systems, interfaces and cable assemblies
* Collaborate with internal IPT functions, support to Production and liaise with external customer stakeholders
* Advise on appropriate tools and techniques for test equipment design within your area of expertise
* Resolve issues by proposing and driving solutions, escalate complex risks, and support opportunity/Risk mitigation activities
* Foster internal and external relationships, promoting best-practice adoption
* Develop, coach, mentor, and upskill other engineers in the broader application of engineering
What we need from you
* Demonstrated experience of technical solution development within a multi-disciplinary team
* Integration experience using software languages such as CVI, C, C++
* Integration experience in a NI TestStand environment
* LF/Digital and RF/uW hardware integration experience
* Offsite / Overseas test integration experience
* Hands-on experience of the hardware full design process and lifecycle
* Knowledge of product safety legislation
* Experience in capturing and analysing stakeholder needs to guide development of solutions for future operational environments
* Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to influence and adapt to changing demands
* Experience working with internal and external stakeholders from diverse organisations, including managing relationships with customers and/or suppliers
* Ability to maintain engineering best practice and look to external sources (e.g., academia, other industries)
* Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others
* Self-motivated with problem-solving aptitude and ability to drive issues to conclusion
Intrinsic Factors
* This is an Edinburgh factory-based role using ATE systems; candidate may also visit customers in other parts of the UK and abroad
* Full-time hours with a flexible and demanding environment
* Security clearance eligibility required; candidates must:
* Have Secret security clearance
* Have a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK
* UK eyes only
