Offer description

Part-time - 22.5 hours per week (Domiciliary Visit Essential Part of the Job)

Salary is NHS Salaried Dentists Band A:

Salary £47,653 - £71,479 + London Waiting & Dependant on Experience

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious dentist to join our team. Whether you are an ambitious dentist seeking community experience before specialty training or looking to move away from the stresses of general practice, this is an ideal place to work.

We provide strong support to clinicians to help them learn and excel; 3 of our dental officers have been selected for highly competitive specialty training programs.

Our Community Dental Service offers dentistry to a diverse patient base, including adults and children requiring special or specialist care. Some clinics are equipped for treatment with inhalation and/or intravenous sedation, and we also provide dental treatment under general anaesthesia for children and adult special care patients at the Princess Royal Hospital in Orpington.

Beyond clinical settings, we collaborate with various organisations to deliver dental care in patients' homes and care homes, focusing on delivering care as close to home as possible.

Interviews are expected to be held during the week commencing 2nd June 2025.

Main duties of the job

Your primary responsibility will be to provide dental care for adult and child patients with diverse special care needs, both in domiciliary and clinical settings, under local anaesthesia, inhalational sedation, and possibly general anaesthesia in hospital.

You will be part of the NHS England Paediatric Dental Care pathway, working collaboratively, making treatment plans, and advising other dental team members on the care of patients with special needs. Experience working alongside a Dental Therapist and in treatment of patients in a special care setting with inhalation sedation is advantageous.

You will have excellent nursing support and access to training allowances for Continuing Professional Development.

We seek an energetic, flexible, self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, IT competence, and a willingness to participate in peer review, clinical governance, and audit projects.

The role requires domiciliary visits, which are essential, so please consider this when applying.

Provide domiciliary care, sedation, or general anaesthesia treatments, and conduct epidemiological work.

Manage clinical staff such as dental therapists/hygienists/nurses, maintain accurate patient records, complete NHS forms, handle patient charges securely, and document epidemiological and clinical activities.
