Peterborough is growing and changing, and the City Council’s legal team is central to that journey. As a Civil Litigation Lawyer, you’ll advise on issues that directly affect residents and services, from judicial reviews to contract disputes, while being part of a supportive, highly regarded in-house team.
This is a broad, varied role where you’ll combine litigation with meaningful advisory work. Whether representing the council in court or guiding service teams through complex challenges, your expertise will help ensure that decisions are fair, robust, and in the best interests of the community.
What You’ll Do
* Manage a varied caseload, with a focus on judicial review (housing and social care)
* Handle civil litigation, including contract disputes and regulatory matters
* Represent the council in court (usually once a month) and provide advocacy support
* Deliver clear, solutions-focused advice to service teams across the authority

What We’re Looking For
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx Fellow
* Strong litigation experience, ideally including judicial review or housing/public law
* Confidence in both advisory work and court representation
* Practical, solutions-driven approach and strong team ethic
