Role Overview: The Deputy Manager's role within the services is to support the Registered Manager in ensuring a high-quality service is delivered and maintained effectively, in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. This includes guiding and supporting staff, fostering an open and inclusive culture, and upholding the standards and reputation of the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Support
* Assist the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
* Support Residential Care Workers (RCWs) to enhance their skills, knowledge, and ability to manage their responsibilities effectively.
* Organize staff rotas as advised by the Home's Manager and ensure staff are aware of daily routines.
* Work within established policies and procedures to maintain consistency in care standards.
* Monitor and ensure timely completion of children's reviews, meetings, care plans, and placement plans.
Staff Development and Leadership
* Ensure staff understand their roles and responsibilities.
* Provide guidance on keyworking duties and implement systems to ensure effective delivery.
* Promote professional development and training opportunities for staff.
* Monitor and manage staff illness, holidays, and arrange team meetings with documented minutes.
Quality and Compliance
* Uphold high standards of care and maintain the standing of the organization.
* Ensure an open culture where children feel safe to express concerns and are actively listened to.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
* Maintain administrative compliance with good childcare practices, company policies, and regulations.
Financial and Administrative Tasks
* Assist in managing financial matters related to the home.
* Produce, coordinate, and edit reports as required.
On-Call and Emergency Duties
* Contribute to the on-call system.
* Deputize in the absence of the Manager and cover shifts to address rota shortfalls.
Essential Skills and Competencies
* Sound knowledge of governing legislation, procedures, and best practices in caring for Looked After Children.
* Demonstrated self-awareness, assertiveness, and the ability to act calmly in challenging situations.
* Strong organizational skills to manage time, admin tasks, and meet set goals.
* Proven ability to foster a non-discriminatory environment and uphold equality.
Additional Expectations
* Undertake and participate in relevant training programs.
* Lead or participate in staff recruitment processes as needed.
* Chair or contribute to meetings and reviews.
* Perform any other duties deemed appropriate by the Home's Manager.
Qualifications and Career Development
* A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management will be offered to the successful candidate.
