The Role
As Project Engineer within the MEICA business, you will bring demonstrable MEICA or industrial installation experience and practical skills to the team. You will provide detailed technical input to the project and ensure works are safe and meet the specifications prior to implementation. You will focus on achieving safety targets, engage the construction team, plan and execute project activities, and contribute to customer satisfaction and quality.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Supporting the Project Management team in the delivery of MEICA projects.
* Production of functional specifications, contractor selection and ensuring all supporting scope is delivered on time.
* Provide data to the project Commercial manager / QS for variation orders and site instructions.
* Coordinate multi‑disciplinary design from the core design team, external partners and the supply chain.
* Drive excellence in Health and Safety in design by eliminating hazards and reducing risks during design while complying with Alliance CDM procedures.
* Manage suppliers of engineering services across all technical disciplines.
* Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce.
* Liaise with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), attending regular meetings.
* Develop and review tender documents for consultants and construction works.
* Understand project risks and coordinate mitigation activities.
* Carry out Technical Assurance checks and audits of contractor activities and outputs.
* Assist in resolving engineering issues arising through project delivery and ensure quality control.
* Manage multiple engineering aspects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet technical and quality standards.
* Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand requirements and objectives.
* Develop and oversee project plans, schedules and budgets.
* Support in preparing detailed MEICA & interface engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
* Assign tasks and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
* Co‑ordinate mitigation activities ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
* Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical and civil engineers.
* Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor progress.
* Troubleshoot MEICA related issues during project execution.
* Ensure projects adhere to codes, standards and industry best practices.
* Manage project documentation including technical reports, change orders and records.
* Provide technical support to clients and address inquiries.
* Prepare and deliver project progress reports and presentations to clients and stakeholders.

Person Specification
* Excellent communication skills, able to work with the Barhale MEICA team, third parties and clients.

Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent in an engineering subject (Mechanical, Electrical, IE or Civil).
* SMSTS or NEBOSH qualified.
* Relevant CSCS Card (Experienced Technical Supervisor, Supervisory, Professionally Qualified Person or Manager).
* Three years + experience at Senior Engineer level or higher with more than three direct reports.
* Familiar with programme management and maintenance.
* Excellent interpersonal communication at all levels.
* Proficient with Office 365 suite.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
* SSSTS / SMSTS, CSCS card, 1st Aid trained, significant industrial MEICA, Civil or Engineering background.
* Understanding of promoting a safety culture on site.
Desirable Requirements
* Familiarity with WIMES Standards.
* Experience in utilities, especially Water & Wastewater.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Strong programme and schedule management experience.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Water & Wastewater Industry background.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Commercial and contract experience.
* Understanding of power project economics.
* Knowledge of MF1, NEC, IChemE or similar model contracts.
* EUSR Water Hygiene card (desirable).
