Job Description:
Lead and manage a Safety, Environment and Chemistry Team that manages governance, risk, and site compliance with all statutory, ISO, and company standards relating to Safety, Environment, Chemistry, Health, and Sustainability plans across Enfield, Grain, and Taylor's Lane (EGTL).
Your responsibilities
* Support the site management team in developing and executing strategic plans to meet performance targets related to compliance, operations, and personnel.
* Develop and implement strategies for Safety, Environment, and Chemistry in collaboration with functional leads and specialists.
* Serve as the primary contact for SE&C matters, overseeing related security activities, systems, and projects.
* Ensure compliance with all permits and legislative requirements.
* Manage the EUETS process on-site, ensuring timely data processing and audit readiness.
* Monitor and report on safety, environmental, and chemistry performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
* Oversee emergency plans, statutory inspections, and staff training.
* Manage Legionella control and develop local procedures for Chemistry and HSSE.
* Develop and oversee the audit plan for chemistry and HSSE compliance and continuous improvement.
* Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
* Manage HSSE reporting, investigations, and action closure.
* Represent EGTL in HSSE meetings and liaise with central HSSE functions.
* Develop standards, procedures, and risk assessments for approval.
* Manage occupational health & safety services, including COSHH, Noise, Radiography, and gas testing.
* Maintain laboratory certifications and monitoring standards.
Your profile
* Educated to a degree or HND level in engineering, safety, environment, or chemistry; management qualification preferred.
* NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and standards, qualified to NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent.
* Knowledge of environmental issues, ISO 14001, and power industry practices.
* Experience with chemistry in power plant operations.
* Leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and ability to drive change and improvement.
* Experience engaging with external organizations and regulatory bodies.
