Senior Business Analyst Permanent Grade D - £45,091 – £53,460 - Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week About the Role We are seeking an experienced finance professional to play a senior role within the Finance function, leading delivery across designated service areas and supporting strategic decision-making. You will manage and develop a team, provide high-quality financial insight, and ensure robust governance, compliance and performance across the service. This is a pivotal role, combining leadership, financial expertise and stakeholder engagement to help shape effective financial planning and service delivery across the organisation. What You’ll Be Doing Deputise for the Finance Manager where required, making informed decisions and resolving complex issues. Lead and manage a team, including work allocation, performance management, recruitment and development. Provide expert financial advice to senior officers and budget holders on complex budgets and operational issues. Lead on forecasting, financial modelling and long-term planning to support business and project decisions. Analyse performance and financial data, producing high-quality reports that influence senior decision-making. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, financial procedures, policies and governance requirements. Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, data quality, systems and service delivery. About You You will be a confident finance professional with strong analytical capability, leadership skills and experience operating in a complex organisational environment. You Will Have: Experience managing a finance team and delivering services within a complex organisation. Strong knowledge of local government finance, including management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and performance management. Experience providing financial advice to senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making. Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop solutions. Strong communication and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders. Experience working in politically sensitive environments and contributing to corporate initiatives and change.
