Overview
We’re seeking a proactive and highly capable Finance Manager to lead our finance function and support strategic decision-making through accurate reporting, robust controls, and clear financial insight. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who can manage the full financial cycle, drive improvements, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Details
* Type: 0.6FTE – 0.8FTE
* Reports to: CEO & Artistic Director
Responsibilities
* Own the end-to-end bookkeeping and financial accounting for the organisation
* Produce monthly management accounts, P&L, and balance sheet reports with commentary
* Manage cashflow and maintain detailed cash forecasts
* Deliver department-level budget reconciliations and maintain up-to-date internal forecasts
* Take full responsibility for invoicing, uploading, and credit control, including chasing outstanding payments
* Oversee all purchasing and ensure robust tracking of procurement activity
* Ensure timely submission of VAT returns, payroll, and other statutory reports
* Prepare funder reports (e.g., ACE) and ensure ongoing compliance with financial conditions
* Lead financial planning and analysis, providing detailed reporting for leadership
* Maintain and enhance financial controls, processes, and compliance protocols
* Reconcile accounts using Xero and integrate with Excel or BI tools for forecasting
* Coordinate with external accountants or auditors as required
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance role, ideally with SME or charity sector exposure
* Advanced knowledge of Xero, Excel (pivots, lookups, formulas), and familiarity with other software like Sage or QuickBooks
* Experience producing management accounts, financial statements, and budget reports
* Highly organised, analytical, and process-driven
* Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to explain financial data to non-finance colleagues
* Comfortable working independently and proactively improving systems
* Experience managing finance for grant-funded or publicly funded organisations
* Exposure to funding reports and working with leadership on strategic finance
