We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced ESOL Tutor to support learners in Bath, particularly those with limited to no English-speaking ability. Many of the students you will work with are Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) currently in care, requiring a sensitive, structured, and supportive approach to learning.
This role is ideal for a tutor who is passionate about language development, cross-cultural support, and helping young people find their voice in a new environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver one-to-one or small group ESOL lessons, tailored to the needs of students with minimal English
Assess student language levels and create a personalised scheme of work to support progression
Adapt teaching methods to meet a variety of learning styles and cultural backgrounds
Build positive, trust-based relationships with vulnerable young people
Provide ongoing monitoring and feedback to support student development and wellbeing
Requirements:
A TEFL qualification (or equivalent in ESOL/English language teaching)
Experience working with non-native English speakers, especially those with little or no English
Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by UASC and students in care
Ability to assess, plan, and deliver effective, individualised lessons
A patient, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed teaching approach
Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
