The post holder is responsible for supporting the effective administration under the Education Act 1996 and Children and Families Act 2014 of the statutory assessment of children and young peoples special educational needs, including their subsequent placement, monitoring and annual review.
Assistant Case Officer within the SEND team aid in the development and delivery and review of planning, performance, commissioning services for children, young people, their families and carers so that overall costs are reduced but the life chances of children and young people are maximised in line with the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act 2014. ACOs also manage the efficient operation of administration of caseloads to ensure the delivery of high quality, fully integrated services to children, young people and their families in line with the requirements of national legislation and guidance. Responsibilities
* Support administration under relevant legislation for statutory assessment of SEND.
* Assist in development, delivery and review of planning, performance and commissioning services for children, young people, their families and carers.
* Manage efficient administration of caseloads to ensure delivery of high-quality, integrated services.
About You / Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be shortlisted:
* Knowledge and experience of the work of a local authority SEND service, and the impact SEND has on children and families.
* Strong administrative skills, proven by a work history in local authority administration.
* Experience and competency in assessment of children and young people with SEND, resulting in the planning, delivery and management of focused interventions and plans.
* Good knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the statutory timelines.
* Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience of working in SEND or services linked to children, young people and families.
* Experience of interacting with service users in a polite and courteous way.
