Responsibilities
* Organise, plan and coordinate activities for a defined production unit.
* Track safety and quality actions, capture and analyse KPIs, and develop action plans for safety, quality and waste reduction.
* Collaboratively create production schedules with planning and support labour allocation.
* Recruit and manage labour planning, supporting workforce requirements.
* Receive and integrate projects and innovations into the production schedule.
* Drive completion of safety action plans, including incident investigations and near‑miss reviews.
* Conduct safety audits, risk assessments and ensure compliance with site requirements.
* Collate safety KPIs & KAIs and share with production teams.
* Carry out quality audits, support external audits and drive quality action plans.
* Coordinate daily operations, communicate plans, and respond to operational disruptions.
* Manage weekend and weekly planning, ensuring robust communication with all shift managers.
* Plan production schedules in agreement with the planning department and communicate changes to teams.
* Support shift managers on the shop floor, including briefs, changeovers and projects.
* Develop and execute rectification plans for blocked stock.
* Prepare detailed activity plans for downtime activities such as cleaning, maintenance and startup/shutdown.
* Serve as the first point of contact for all projects landing in the production area and coordinate integration with planning teams.
* Handle employee relations: conduct disciplinary investigations, hearings and address grievances.
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives, collect data and work with engineers and operators to eliminate waste.
* Coordinate training and recruitment activities with the site training team, aligning skill development with operational needs.
Qualifications
* National school leaver qualifications in Reading, Writing, Comprehension and Mathematics.
* Preferable: Degree in a science or engineering discipline (not mandatory).
* Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end manufacturing process.
* Knowledge of national safety and environmental legislation and company policies.
* Demonstrated experience achieving sustained success in a manufacturing environment, including leading improvement projects.
* Strong continuous improvement knowledge and ability to use data for decision making.
* Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to drive a strong safety culture and promote best practice.
* Commercial acumen and understanding of financial concepts.
* Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment, prioritise and make quick, sound decisions.
* Reasonable mechanical skills to address day‑to‑day issues (advantageous but not essential).
