A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Small Heath area is seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist ASD resource base, supporting children with Autism in a structured and nurturing environment.
This long-term opportunity sits within a dedicated provision for pupils with a range of Autism-related needs, including communication differences, sensory sensitivities, and emotional regulation challenges. You'll be joining a skilled and supportive team focused on providing consistency, and meaningful support every day.
What You'll Do:
Support pupils with ASD on a 1:1 or small group basis within the resource base
Use visual supports, structured routines and clear communication to aid understanding
Encourage independence, social interaction and positive behaviour
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and therapy teams to deliver personalised support
Create a calm, consistent environment where pupils can thriveWhat We're Looking For:
A level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a relevant qualification
Experience supporting children with Autism in a school or similar setting
Confidence using visual timetables, PECS, Makaton or other communication tools
