We’re looking for a Jira Administrator / Junior Atlassian Engineer with strong analytical skills and a keen desire to primarily support Jira, Confluence & JSM and learn while developing, implementing software solutions and as part of our Engineering Excellence team.
Our Mission:
A Jira Administrator / Junior Atlassian Engineer reports into the Engineering Manager and contributes to the delivery of our mission through a combination of design, build & implementation activity together with working alongside multiple engineering teams across the department, supporting them to adopt new ways of working. The role will involve strong collaboration with others - be it learning from examples of existing great engineering work, collaborating with others to create it or mentoring engineers to use it.
This role will initially focus almost exclusively on Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management ways of working, development, configuration and support, and over time evolve to include the wider goals of the team.
Your Role
Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management
1. Administer technical solutions, projects & spaces created by Jira, Confluence, JSM and their associated plugins.
2. Support upgrades to the Atlassian toolset
3. Support User access / JML processes
4. Contribute to the development of key system-wide customisations
5. Train and guide various levels of users within the business
6. Provide technical support to end users to help address system queries & issues
7. Maintain documentation to aid in queries
General
8. Contribute to Licence management of Atlassian and other software
9. Work under guidance of Software Engineers to understand problems, analyse requirements & deliver solutions that enhance engineering productivity
10. Write code for low latency, highly available and scalable solutions
11. Contribute to delivering initiatives to improve system observability, incident response processes and operational efficiency
12. Continually update technical knowledge and skills using internal training as well taking time to self-develop utilising external sources
13. Champion a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation within the department
What You’ll Need
14. Hands-on experience in Jira / Confluence Administration (Project setup including Customisation)
15. Familiarity with Jira scripting languages (JQL, Groovy) and Jira APIs
16. You will be familiar with at least one of the technologies used in Asda’s wider technology landscape React native/JS, JAVA, C#, .NET, Azure SQL
17. Have experience / knowledge within a modern software engineering role including use of automation and the CICD toolchain
18. Have experience working to an Agile methodology (e.g. XP, Kanban, Scrum, SAFe)
19. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Knowledge of tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for managing and provisioning infrastructure is a bonus
20. Pro-active, enthusiastic, conscientious, detail-oriented and able to work well under general guidance
21. Highly resilient, employing a relentless can-do attitude in the face of adversity
22. Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
23. Able to discuss technical information with both technical and non-technical colleagues
24. Able to identify and manage risks through to resolution
25. Excellent communication and collaboration skills
26. Atlassian Certifications would be an advantage
