About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and committed Science Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEN secondary school in Hoddesdon. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making a real difference to young people's lives through education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons to Key Stage 4 students, many of whom have a range of additional learning needs. While a Biology specialism would be advantageous, we welcome applications from all Science disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare and deliver differentiated Science lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of SEN students at Key Stage 4.
* Foster a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and personal growth.
* Track and report on student progress, adapting teaching strategies and resources as needed.
* Work collaboratively with the SENCo, teaching assistants, and wider pastoral team to support the holistic development of students.
* Contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives that enhance the learning experience for all students.
* Participate in school events, training, and meetings as required.
* Uphold and promote the school's inclusive ethos, values, and safeguarding responsibilities.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* A degree in a relevant Science subject.
* Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 4.
* A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
* Strong classroom management and differentiation skills.
Desirable:
* Biology specialism.
* Experience working in a SEN or alternative provision setting.
* Familiarity with SEN teaching strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
* Experience teaching triple Science or leading extra-curricular STEM activities.
