Scientific Procurement Manager
Company – A life science biospecimen provider
Location – Burgess Hill (Hybrid, 2-3 days a week onsite)
Salary – £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Contract – Permanent and full-time

Overview
Our client is a biospecimen provider, sourcing, supplying and distributing a vast array of human and animal tissues in disease and non-disease states. The work they do is vital to supporting the research into disease and enabling new treatments across all disease areas.
Role
As a Scientific Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Leading the sourcing team (3 direct reports). You will be responsible for their continuous development, progression plans and day-to-day workload management.
* Overseeing the procurement of biospecimens for client orders and projects.
* Optimising inventory, including the management of reorder points, minimum order quantity, forecasting of needs etc to reduce lead times for customers.
* Maintaining and managing relationships with suppliers (both internal and external).
* Negotiation of contracts with existing and new suppliers, including costs and pricing.
* Designing and implementing strategies for improvement within the procurement team to overcome challenges or generally increase efficiency.
* Act as the point of escalation for challenging sourcing requirements or issues.
Candidate
In order to be successful in the position, the candidate will have:
* BSc degree (desired – equivalent experience in a similar role is also fine).
* Must have had previous experience line managing (essential).
* Must have previously worked in a procurement focused position (essential).
* Expertise in procurement for technical items (essential).
* A background in scientific procurement is beneficial (desired).
* A background within life science, or an understanding of biology / tissue samples (essential).
* A track record of clear and professional communication with suppliers and other stakeholders (essential).
* Experience in solving complex problems (essential).
* A desire to contribute to improvement initiatives within the business (essential).
* Prior experience with Sage X3, or SAP (desired).
* Full right to work in the UK without the need for visa sponsorship now, or in the future (essential – visa sponsorship is NOT available).
Package
This is a full-time and permanent opportunity. Salary range is £37,000 - £40,000, with discretionary bonus, 25 days holiday (+ bank holidays on top), private healthcare, life assurance, pension contributions and free onsite parking.
