In this critical role, you'll work closely with management and site teams to implement effective HSE strategies, manage risk, and promote a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility. Purpose of the position: To support Head of HSE for ensuring adherence to best practice protocols, regulation and compliance, locally and internationally. To support the Head of HSE in Occupational Health queries and review meetings. To support the Head of HSE in achieving and maintaining ISO standards. Job Summary: The Senior HSE Specialist will support the Head of HSE in delivering the company's objectives related to Health, Safety, and Environmental management. This role involves providing guidance and support to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialists, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organisation. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert advice and support to HSE Specialists on various health, safety, and environmental issues. Provide day-to-day task guidance and leadership to the HSE team. To oversee the HSE audit programme to ensure completion and timely delivery on non-conformances To support the Head of HSE in Occupational Health/Health Surveillance demands to the business. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance HSE awareness and competencies among employees. Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into business operations and projects. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure the company's HSE practices remain legal, current and effective. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive HSE management throughout the organisation. To support the Head of HSE in ISO certification. The ability to review and interpret all elements of environmental and safety regulation Experience in ‘Lean' methodology and continuous improvements Education: Professional qualifications to include NEBOSH General and IEMA, chartered status or equivalent experience. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Health, Safety, and Environmental specialist. Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices. Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations. Experience in developing and delivering HSE training programs. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels. Deep knowledge in areas of specialism combined with broad knowledge of the industry and the relevant external environment (legislative, regulatory, best practice standards, etc.).
