Polaris Children’s Services is an established provider of children’s services, delivering innovative, outcomes-based support that aims to create brighter futures for children, young people, and families.
Operating across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and Derby, STARS offers intensive support to help children and young people transition from residential care to fostering, stabilize existing placements, support reunification, and prevent children from reaching the edge of care.
Requirements
This is a community role; although based in Mansfield, you must be able to travel to Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, or Derby.
* Ability to work as part of a professional network, including birth parents, carers, social workers, and schools, to advocate for the child/young person’s wishes and feelings.
* Willingness to engage in learning and development to support your role as a mentor.
* Residency in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, or Derby to facilitate community visits.
* Full driving license and unrestricted access to your own car.
* Flexibility in working hours.
Responsibilities
* Support identified children and young people in their home environment.
* Assist children and young people before, during, and after their transition to foster care, tailored to their needs and understanding.
* Support children and young people during their transition from foster care back to reunifying home.
* Act as a positive role model by sharing experiences, empathizing, validating feelings, and making meaningful connections.
* Encourage children and young people to express their wishes and feelings, and relay this information to the relevant network.
* Maintain regular contact with children and young people through face-to-face meetings and phone calls.
* Ensure the service promotes equality, diversity, and rights for all individuals involved.
* Deliver services in accordance with the Operating Manual.
