Teacher of Computing – Liberton High School

Salary: £35,022 – £52,740

Hours: 35 hours per week

Liberton High School is a non-denominational secondary school with a roll of approximately 900 pupils, working in partnership with our associated primaries of Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Liberton and Prestonfield to serve our local community in South East Edinburgh.

We have a rising roll projected to peak at approximately 1100 within the next four years. We are excited to be moving into a new, purpose‑built Community Campus, which is due to be completed in Summer 2026.

The leadership team comprises the Head Teacher, three Deputy Head Teachers, and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 65 teaching staff and 26 support staff. Our vision is “Everyone Matters” and we show this every day through our values of being Ready, Respectful and Responsible. Our dedicated staff are committed to supporting our young people to achieve their potential.

We are looking for a creative and innovative individual who will be able to apply their skills, knowledge and experience to support our pupils to achieve success within our Business and Computing faculty as a Teacher of Computing. We encourage you to bring your existing skills and experience to our team, and to introduce new ideas and strategies appropriate to our learners.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best. We particularly encourage applications from women for senior roles, as well as people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, care experienced people, carers and LGBT+ people across all levels of the organisation, all of whom are currently underrepresented. All applicants will be considered fairly based on skills and experience. Disabled and care‑experienced applicants who meet the minimum job criteria will be guaranteed an interview.
