Theatre, Critical Care, Anaesthetics, Pre-op & Pain Day Surgery Theatre Band 5 - Permanent (full time) Are you a skilled and motivated Theatre Scrub Practitioner looking to join our dynamic and patient-focused peri-operative team within Theatre, working in Day Surgery Theatre, where you will provide high-quality scrub support across a range of surgical specialities, prepare theatres, manage instruments and equipment, maintain aseptic technique, support smooth theatre list flow, and contribute to excellent patient outcomes within a supportive and forward-thinking department committed to outstanding care?
Main duties of the job
Deliver a high standard of patient care, ensuring all procedures and treatments comply with Trust policies and clinical guidelines.
Organise day-to-day activities within the designated area as directed by the Specialty Manager/Team Leader, appropriate to competence and skill level.
Take charge of theatre sessions as required.
Liaise effectively with medical staff, senior nursing staff and other departments to support the smooth running of services.
Ensure staff are informed of any changes to procedures, lists or working practices.
Supervise and support learners and junior staff, providing guidance appropriate to their competency level.
Provide clear and timely information to patients, relatives, ward staff and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.
Check, administer and control drugs in accordance with Trust policy and legal requirements.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
* Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
* Good standard of general education
* Basic resuscitation / ILS / IV therapy
Communication Skills
* Effective communication skills -- written, verbal and IT with the ability to communicate clearly with members of the MDT, patients, families and carers
* IT literate, with the ability to use and learn theatre-specific digital systems
Knowledge and Training
* Completion of a recognised theatre training programme or evidence of relevant perioperative experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role
* Willingness to rotate across theatres within the Trust for professional development
Experience
* Current or recent experience working as a Theatre Scrub Practitioner in a theatre setting
Analytical & Judgement Skills
* Ability to provide holistic care to patients
* Ability to problem‑solve and use sound clinical judgement
* Able to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Planning Skills
* Physical capability to perform the role with reasonable adjustments as required
