FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a DevOps Engineer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Leatherhead. Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced DevOps Engineer to lead Kubernetes deployments across a variety of platforms. The ideal candidate will be passionate about automation, CI/CD pipelines, and building secure‑by‑design infrastructure. Responsibilities Design and build scalable, secure infrastructure using infrastructure as code (Ansible or CloudFormation) Develop automation tools, including APIs and scripts to streamline CI/CD pipelines and system operations Design, develop and manage Kubernetes environments Debug application integration between APIs, Kubernetes, and platform services Implement Git workflows for deployment and code configuration management Collaborate with software engineers to build, test, and integrate new applications Continuously improve system performance, reliability, security, and developer experience Work closely with senior technical leads and mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise in DevOps and Kubernetes Requirements Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer Eligible for SC Clearance or SC clearable (not holding an unrestricted travel permit such as OCI, NICOP, etc.) Hands on experience building infrastructure as code Strong understanding of Kubernetes internals, containers, and orchestration Knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, and modern build/deploy pipelines Understanding of networking, security, and private/public cloud offerings Proven ability to design, document, and implement systems in complex environments Excellent communication skills with both junior and senior stakeholders Willing to work from Leatherhead office at least 1 day per week Flexibility to occasionally work from company’s customer sites across the UK Desirable Experience with multi cloud or hybrid deployments Familiarity with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Why join us Career coaching, mentoring and access to upskilling throughout your entire FDM career Assignments with global companies and opportunities to work abroad Opportunity to re-skill and up-skill into new areas, develop non-linear career paths and build a skillset within your field Annual leave and work-place pension About FDM We are a business and technology consultancy and one of the UK's leading employers, recruiting the brightest talent to become the innovators of tomorrow.
