The Opportunity
We are seeking one to two confident, motivated Business Development professionals to join their growing commercial team. This is a strategic and hands-on role, blending proactive new business development with long-term client relationship management. You’ll work alongside senior leaders to drive growth in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals and aerospace, while also exploring opportunities in new industries.
This isn’t about quick wins or transactional sales. It’s about intelligent, consultative business development: representing the company with credibility, uncovering the real drivers behind a brief, and building trusted partnerships that deliver multi-million-pound projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
• New Business Generation: Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities, particularly within target markets such as pharmaceuticals and aerospace.
• Client Development: Build long-term relationships with senior decision-makers, brand teams, and procurement leads.
• Networking & Outreach: Attend trade shows, conferences, and client events (5–6+ times per year) to represent the business and grow its profile internationally.
• Pitching & Proposals: Lead and support proposal development and tender responses, working closely with internal teams to deliver compelling, tailored solutions.
• Account Ownership: Manage accounts end-to-end — from first contact through to delivery and ongoing relationship growth.
• Market Insight: Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activity, and client challenges, feeding insights into the wider commercial strategy.
• Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with leadership to align business development activity with capacity and commercial priorities, while managing your pipeline effectively.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience in B2B sales or business development (ideally in exhibitions, events, or a related industry).
• A consultative and strategic mindset, with the ability to navigate complex organisations and longer sales cycles.
• A track record of winning and growing high-value accounts.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills — persuasive, credible, and human.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and hungry to develop new opportunities.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally.
• Based within a commutable distance of Rugby.
• Full UK driving licence and valid passport.
