Are you passionate about rehabilitation and positive change? Do you have experience in group facilitation or working with challenging client groups? We are looking for a committed individual to join our Psychological Services team as anOffending Behaviour Programmes (OBP) Facilitatorat our new male Category C, rehabilitation Prison, HMP Fosse Way situated in Leicester.
What you'll be doing:
* Deliver Accredited Offending Behaviour Programmes such as the Thinking Skills Programme (TSP - a general offending behaviour programme) and any other identified programme according to the delivery plan of the establishment
* Complete all pre and post session work associated with delivering programme sessions
* Attend regular supervision with the Treatment Manager.
* To assess Prisoners for the programmes offered on site.
* Write Post Programme Reports for Prisoners who both complete and non-complete the programmes detailing progress and any identified further work.
* Complete administrative tasks as required such as processing referrals, updating waiting lists, photocopying session materials, communicating with prison staff and external agencies regarding individual's progress on the programmes.
* Attend and pass any/all training as required.
* Complete motivational work / assessment processes with Prisoners prior to commencing a programme.
* Prepare objectives and follow up work with Prisoners involved in programmes and provide additional support where necessary.
* Contribute to sentence planning and Parole process as appropriate for prospective group members and those who have participated in groups.
What you'll need to succeed:
Experience:
Minimum: Experience of facilitating group work and / or experience of working with challenging client groups
Desirable:
* Experience of working in a forensic setting
* Experience of delivering psychological interventions
* Experience in delivering accredited offending behaviour programmes such as those mentioned above (or equivalent) in custody or the community
Knowledge:
Training will be provided, however knowledge in some of the following areas would be an advantage:
* Some knowledge and understanding of psychological theory particularly of offending.
* Knowledge of the what works' literature in relation to reducing risk of reoffending.
* Knowledge of theories related to violent and / or sexual offending.
* Knowledge of responsivity and diversity issues when working with offenders.
* Knowledge of motivational techniques.
Skills:
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to motivate resistant individuals.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Good organisational skills and ability to manage demand of the role and large workload.
* Ability to challenge antisocial behaviour and attitudes appropriately.
Please note:Programme Facilitators require mandatory training. You must pass all required training in order to carry out this role. If an individual is assessed as Not Ready' on attendance to a training event, management discretion will be used as to whether a second attempt can be made. If an individual is deemed Not Ready' on a second occasion, your suitability for the role will be formally reviewed and may result in contract termination.
What else do I need to know
* This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks, and satisfactory employment references. You'll be required to provide 5 years of employment and education history as part of these checks.
* This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under current UK Home Office rules, as it does not meet the required salary or skill level criteria. Whilst we encourage applications to other roles, candidates who already have a valid right to work in the UK through other immigration routes or permissions must meet the below minimum eligibility criteria:
* Have at least two years remaining on your current visa to ensure sufficient time in the role.
* Have lived in the UK for at least one year, as the vetting process requires a counter-signatory from a recognised professional who has known you for that duration.
