I’m working on an exciting opportunity for a Conflicts Lawyer to join the London office of a leading international law firm with a strong global platform and a growing risk and new business intake function.
This opportunity is likely to suit a newly qualified lawyer or a lawyer with up to around 2 years’ PQE who is interested in moving into a commercially focused, stakeholder-facing role within a high-performing firm environment. Previous conflicts experience would be helpful, but it is not essential. Strong junior lawyers moving from fee-earning roles will be considered where they can clearly demonstrate their motivation for making the move.
This is a visible role within a well-established global team, working closely with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions. The team is seen as a genuine business-enabling function, balancing sound risk management with commercial judgement and practical decision-making.
The London team is in growth mode, making this a particularly interesting time to join.
The role will involve:
• Reviewing escalated conflicts searches and providing clear, practical guidance
• Reviewing and approving new clients and matters in line with internal policies and procedures
• Analysing conflicts reports and identifying legal and commercial issues
• Preparing conflicts summaries and proposed resolutions, including waivers, screens and internal clearances
• Advising partners, lawyers and business services teams on new business intake policy and process
• Drafting engagement letters, conflict waivers and ethical screens
• Supporting lateral hire onboarding from a conflicts and intake perspective
• Keeping up to date with relevant professional conduct rules and conflicts regulations
The ideal profile:
• Admitted to a recognised law society or bar
• Likely at NQ to c.2 years’ PQE
• Strong legal analytical skills and sound judgement
• Commercially minded, with a pragmatic and business-enabling approach
• Confident in a stakeholder-facing environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with senior lawyers and partners
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performing international firm environment
• Discreet and trustworthy, with the ability to handle highly confidential information
Helpful but not essential:
• Previous conflicts or new business intake experience
• Exposure to AML, compliance or regulatory research
• Experience with tools such as Intapp, WorldCheck, Orbis or Capital IQ
• Knowledge of professional conduct rules across relevant jurisdictions
Why consider it?
• Rare opportunity to join a top-tier international firm in a growing specialist function
• Strong salary on offer
• High exposure to senior stakeholders across offices
• Excellent long-term career path within a specialist area
• Hybrid working model
