Programme Graduate - Water Network Asset Management (Engineering)
Salary & Benefits – Starting salary: £32,000, rising to £37,000 by the end of year 2. Extras: £2,000 signing bonus, annual bonus, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a wellness day. Location – West Yorkshire. Requirement for flexible travel across Yorkshire & Humber.
Work type – 37 hours per week, 8:00am–6:00pm Monday–Friday.

Your Graduate Programme
Two‑year programme with five placements across your business area, complemented by a choice of placements to suit your personal development needs in core functions such as Finance, Health & Safety, People, and Procurement. You’ll gain hands‑on experience, technical and leadership training, and support from mentors, managers, graduate alumni and our Early in Careers team.
Your Team
The programme spreads you across the Network Asset Management function, working on activities to reach net zero carbon emissions and plan for drought or flood events. You’ll engage with engineering, innovation, nature‑based solutions and strategy, supporting Yorkshire Water’s vision.
Your Role
As a Water Network Asset Management Graduate you will:
* Identify and lead investigations into asset performance shortfalls or opportunities.
* Develop notional solutions where appropriate.
* Lead projects through the definition phase, ensuring solutions are fully investigated and partnered with experts as needed.
* Calculate hydraulic and water quality impacts using manual calculations or hydraulic analytical tools.
* Produce detailed operational method statements and contingency plans, verified with operational teams.
* Investigate new supply, mains requisitions and self‑lay/NAV applications, and propose solutions to maintain serviceability.
* Provide a holistic view of future demand growth and propose engineering options through the Asset Management department to secure CAPEX funding.
* Undertake detailed investigations and reports for Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) incidents, Water Quality Contact performance and develop Drinking Water Safety Plans.
* Support and coach other colleagues in the team and wider business.
What you’ll need to be successful
* £2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
* Enthusiasm and drive to succeed.
* UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Enquiring mindset and commitment to sustainability and customer service.
