Dispute Resolution – Property Litigation – Principal/Senior Associate
Role Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Lease Renewal Specialist to manage a high-volume caseload of lease renewals. You will be working as part of the Property Litigation Team, which sits within the firm’s Dispute Resolution department. It requires a strong understanding of landlord and tenant law, excellent case management skills, and a collaborative approach to client service.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage live lease renewal cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
* Advise clients on all aspects of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
* Provide guidance on tenancy at will and periodic tenancies.
* Prepare and serve break notices in accordance with legal requirements.
* Handle assignments of leases and contentious applications for consent.
* Advise on repairs notices and dilapidations.
* Manage forfeiture proceedings where necessary.
* Represent clients in telephone hearings and other dispute resolution forums.
* Supervise and support junior team members.
* Deliver client training sessions and contribute to business development initiatives.
* Maintain meticulous diary management and case tracking.
Person Specification
* Confident in handling contentious lease matters and applications for consent.
* Strong advocacy skills, including telephone hearings.
* Excellent organisational and diary management abilities.
* Comfortable supervising junior colleagues and sharing expertise.
* Commercially aware with a proactive approach to business development.
* Strong communication skills and a client-focused mindset.
Technical Knowledge
* In-depth knowledge of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and related legislation.
* Experience in lease renewals, break notices, and tenancy structures.
