Your Mission:
As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our combat systems. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Design Development: Define and develop the ECS design using systems engineering principles, including architecture, requirements, and interfaces to facilitate the production of component sub-systems.
* Performance Understanding: Grasp the contractual and performance requirements for communication products, supporting the definition and acceptance criteria throughout the design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning phases.
* Supplier Collaboration: Ensure the flow-down of requirements to suppliers and the acceptance of their deliverables, capturing and recording all necessary information.
* Project Support: Assist the Engineering Manager and Project Manager in bids, proposal development, and project planning activities.
* Technical Guidance: Provide technical support for integrated performance and acceptance activities, ensuring smooth acceptance of equipment from suppliers to system acceptance by the customer.
* Knowledge Sharing: Document domain knowledge and share expertise to enhance the knowledge base within relevant business teams.
Your Skills and Experience:
* Proven knowledge and experience in wireless communication systems within maritime, defence, or commercial sectors, with an understanding of their interaction with submarine build programmes.
* A STEM-related degree or equivalent experience in aerospace, defence, telecommunications, or marine environments.
* Familiarity with the complete engineering lifecycle, including requirements/system design, integration, and acceptance phases.
* A strong awareness of product safety and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment).
* Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
