Are you an enthusiastic, hard-working team player? We are looking to recruit a part-time Health Care Assistant to support our clinical team within the busy, friendly Radiology Department.
About the Role
You will work across the radiology, ultrasound, and breast imaging departments, assisting radiologists, sonographers, and radiographers with procedures and contributing to the smooth running of the department.
This varied role involves working in a busy environment, managing different demands typical of a Health Care Assistant in this specialty. We require you to be friendly, hardworking, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You should have the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize work efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain high standards of hygiene, infection control, and safety in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
2. Provide nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
3. Assist with administrative and non-nursing duties within the radiology, ultrasound, breast imaging, and fluoroscopy departments.
4. Liaise with medical, radiology, nursing, technical, and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
5. Observe and apply Trust policies, departmental, and nursing protocols.
6. Help manage patient flow and coordinate inpatient activities as needed.
7. Assist during examinations, ensuring preparation of clinical rooms and patient readiness.
8. Help patients prepare for examinations, ensuring safety and comfort, and explain procedures as needed.
9. Assist with post-examination procedures and administrative tasks, maintaining confidentiality.
10. Ensure accurate data entry and maintain knowledge of CRIS database.
11. Support reception activities, scheduling, and statistical data collection.
12. Participate in audits and ensure timely communication with patients regarding delays.
13. Maintain infection control standards and cleanliness of equipment and environment.
14. Provide chaperone services, respecting patient privacy and dignity.
15. Assist with clinical procedures under supervision after appropriate training.
16. Perform basic care and administer first aid in emergencies.
17. Handle manual patient transfer only after receiving proper training.
18. Assist in other areas of the radiology department as required.
19. Attend training sessions and report incidents and hazards promptly.
20. Be flexible and adaptable to meet changing service needs.
21. Perform any other duties as directed by the Radiology Services Manager or relevant supervisor.
