Overview
An Events Officer position has become available working in the Events Team. You will be part of a dynamic, responsive and professional team delivering a vast array of inclusive community events ranging from large Music Festivals to civic services. The role is very challenging but hugely rewarding for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
* Day-to-day planning and management of the events, completing reports and event documents to support the Event Programme Manager.
* Develop and lead partnership relations with relevant stakeholders and community groups.
* Professionally represent the Council at planning meetings through to the delivery of the events themselves.
* Lead the implementation of logistic activity related to the events and be responsible for directly building infrastructure to ensure events run smoothly and safely.
Working Pattern and Location
Much of the Event Programme is delivered on weekends, so flexible working is essential. Based at Grafton House and the Corn Exchange, the team operate at all parks and open spaces within the Borough. The majority of work will be Monday to Friday with the exception of event build, operating and strike days where long, anti-social hours in all weather conditions can be expected.
Qualifications and Skills
* The successful candidate will be educated to A Level or Industry equivalent standards.
* Experience of working in a similar events-based role is essential, along with Project Management, Health & Safety, IT literacy and report writing skills.
* Current working knowledge of the Events Industry, excellent interpersonal skills and a current valid UK Driving Licence.
Working Style
The role is highly pressured with constant unmovable deadlines and is physically challenging. You must be able to work to your own initiative and with minimum supervision. A great team player, you will drive forward shared objectives and be able to dynamically prioritise competing demands.

Hours and Benefits
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday, with additional weekend and evening work required during Event season.
