Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity is available as a Sequence Engineer to work as part of the Midlands Control Team located in Castle Donington. Designing and building the Sequence Schemes to restore customers on our HV and EHV networks within the company Network Management (ADMS) system.
Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
Please note that there is no hybrid working with this role due to the nature of the role.
Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensure all sequence schemes fully consider HV System security and actions necessary to maintain optimum security on the whole electrical distribution network.
* Build, edit and implement sequence scheme changes within the live AMDS system.
* Ensuring that SQC schemes are identified by checking outages in the OMS system
* Designing bespoke SQC schemes for facilitating whole primary or individual circuit strategic restorations.
* Run schemes on the DEV ADMS system (Test system) for function checks
* In the live ADMS system, approve, commission and enable the schemes before a respective outage
* Managing SQC scheme amendments and updates ad‑hoc and as required
* Track progress of the outages to ensure schemes are enabled and disabled in a timely manner
* Apply APRS schemes where not deployed by CNI team.
* Check fault reports to ensure operational compliance, address non‑compliance
* Amendment of schemes where Normal Open Points are moved
* Supporting Outage Planning with, short‑term working requirements and for any necessary contingency plans with SQC Schemes.
* Support IIS compliance and associated audits
* Review submitted Technical Approval applications
* Support Internal stakeholders with ad‑hoc scheme enquiries
* Assist in post fault restoration enquiries
* Other duties as directed by a Control Operations Manager that are required for network safety, security, or continuity of operations.
Ideal Candidate
For appointment in to the role, candidates must have a minimum of a level 4 / HNC in an Engineering or Computer Science subject that includes some electrical modules.
Applications from candidates who hold a comparable Level 3 qualification and significant relevant experience on either electrical power networks, ADMS / Power‑On or SCADA control systems, where candidates may be asked to work towards level 4 as part of a progression plan. Significant experience would need to be demonstrated by a work portfolio.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Electricity Distribution Network and its operation.
Familiarity with an ADMS / Power‑On / ENMAC product operation is not essential but it is advantageous.
Requirements
As the post you are applying for attracts a National Security Vetting clearance there are further eligibility requirements, information can be found on the gov.uk website. To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application. There are exceptions to this however and examples of these include:
* you have been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government
* you were studying abroad
* you were living overseas with parents
