The Role
As the Junior Commercial Video Director, you'll be at the heart of our in-house video team - bringing bold ideas to life through compelling video. You'll transform commercial briefs into standout visual stories, creating innovative, engaging, and high‑quality content for our brands and clients. Reporting to the Commercial Video Lead and working hand‑in‑hand with the video team and the wider Hearst studio, you'll help shape concepts, plan and lead shoots, and oversee polished edits that meet our highest editorial standards. Main Duties
* Understand our in‑house brands and the individual client requirements for each project across a range of genres – fashion, beauty, fitness, lifestyle etc.
* Direct internal and external talent on set, making sure they understand the brief and feel supported.
* Work with numerous departments and communicate effectively to make sure all projects align across print and digital, and all assets are delivered on time to desired standard.
* Develop compelling and visually‑driven video treatments for client‑approved concepts, bringing creative visions to life through detailed proposals.
* Oversee and provide clear, constructive feedback on commercial video edits to ensure the quality, tone, and storytelling meet the desired standard.
* Collaborate with the Creative Strategy team during the pre‑sale phase by contributing video concepts and talent recommendations in response to commercial briefs.
* Participate in commercial brainstorming sessions, providing creative input from a video production perspective to help shape early‑stage ideas.
* Contribute to the development of Creative Strategy decks and presentations, ensuring strong visual storytelling and alignment with video execution.
* Represent the video team in internal and external kick‑off meetings with brand teams, clients, and partner agencies, leading discussions on video direction and execution.
What We Are Looking For
* Strong experience self‑shooting and directing, co‑ordinating shoots, scheduling shoots and working with talent/clients.
* Experience sourcing crew and confidently running a shoot day.
* An understanding of visual trends across branded content and advertising media.
* An ability to think creatively/laterally, making the most of budgets and finding new visual approaches to video concepts.
* Willingness to learn and develop with a view to bringing new skills to the team or helping others on the team develop their skills.
* An ability to present concepts in meetings with internal departments, or external clients, good face‑to‑face and phone manner.
* Nice to have – the ability to edit to a high standard – source music, create graphics, colour balance, grade and mix to create fully crafted video pieces, with an eye for editorial voice and current video styles/trends.
