We’re looking for a security cleared senior Mechanical Engineer to join a high-performing Integrated Project Team, supporting the development of advanced precision guidance systems for next-generation programmes.
Key skills
* Degree qualified in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Proven experience in the Aerospace and/or Defence sector
* Strong background in mechanical design for electronic/electronic products
* Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools (preferably PTC Creo)
* Experience with structural design and first-pass analysis
* Knowledge of opto-mechanical assemblies, grounding and electrical screening
* Ability to produce detailed and assembly drawings to BS8888 standards
* Experience with materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes
* Background in jigs, fixtures, and tooling design for assembly and testing
* Understanding of cable harness design and integration
* Familiarity with DfX principles (Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration, Sustainability)
* Comfortable working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of technical solutions across critical engineering programmes
* Develop mechanical designs in line with company and international standards
* Produce innovative engineering solutions considering quality, safety, reliability, and sustainability
* Carry out detailed mechanical design work, including calculations and tolerance analysis
* Create Manufacturing Data Packs in line with BS8888 and GD&T principles
* Generate Bills of Materials (BoMs) within PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter)
* Participate in design reviews in line with industry standards
* Deliver design solutions to technical, budget, and schedule requirements
