About the Role
The Family Group Conferencing (FGC) team delivers Family Group Conferences, mediation, and restorative meetings to support families in building strong networks and creating safe, sustainable plans for children and young people.
The Coordinator will plan, convene, facilitate, and review FGCs in line with Family Rights Group (FRG) guidelines, while ensuring children’s voices are central to decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and review Family Group Conferences, ensuring inclusivity and safety for families from diverse backgrounds.
Conduct referral discussions and maintain accurate records for families and partner professionals.
Convene FGCs, mediation sessions, and restorative meetings to empower families in decision-making.
Provide training, advice, and ongoing support to partner professionals facilitating Family Network Meetings.
Monitor, evaluate, and improve the effectiveness of FGC practice.
Ensure children and young people’s participation in their own plans and decisions.
Engage in professional supervision, appraisal, and ongoing training.
Support students, apprentices, and volunteers within the service.
Manage petty cash, procurement cards, and other resources responsibly.Experience & Knowledge
Minimum 2 years’ recent experience working directly with children, young people, and families in a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience convening FGCs, mediation, restorative meetings, and/or chairing family-based meetings.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and risk assessment.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and local procedures in children’s services.
Familiarity with IT systems and ability to manage accurate records and reports.Skills & Competencies

Relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., in social care, youth work, childcare, or related field).
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
FGC accreditation (or willingness to complete within 12 months of appointment).Other Requirements
Enhanced DBS check required.
Ability to travel – must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car (or use public transport as directed).
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet service needs.
