Overview

The Defence Animal Training Regiment (DATR) delivers animal handling training for more than 400 personnel and role specific training for hundreds of animals per year. The unit is a joint service establishment with serving personnel from several Army regiments and the RAF Police, comprising Canine, Equine and Veterinary squadrons. This post provides an opportunity to work in an environment like no other. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. The Army and Defence employs a Civil Service workforce of diverse functions and professions, including police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers and psychologists, storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. The Defence role supports the wider Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) Operations Group.


Responsibilities

* Management and oversight of the course planning and scheduling process
* Attend meetings with stakeholders to discuss and review all matters relating to training requirements at the DATR
* Management of Request for Change (RFCs) process including liaison with customers on demand for courses, course timings and allocations and any required in-year adjustments
* Coordination and management of all overseas students and act as the point of contact for all other overseas requested activity
* Coordination and management of all Income Generation (IG) activities at DATR. Liaison with RSME and Army Commercial to ensure that all activities are planned and compliant with policy
* Analysis and production of management statistics and data analysis
* Act as the single point of contact for all visits requests to DATR
* Civil Servant line management responsibilities and deputy to the Training and Plans Manager

You will be assessed against the following behaviours: Making Effective Decisions; Managing a Quality Service. Experience-based questions will also be asked at interview.


Application Process

Where a large number of applications are received, an initial sift will be conducted based on the evidence provided for the Working Together behaviour. Personal statements and Changing and Improving behaviour will be reviewed if you are successful at the initial sift. Interview assessment includes the following behaviours: Making Effective Decisions and Managing a Quality Service. You will be asked experience-based questions.

Application sifting is scheduled within 7 days of the application closing date. Interviews are in Melton Mowbray, held in person. These timeframes are subject to change.
