Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (Personal Care Required)

Contract Type: Temp to Perm, Full Time from September
Leader Education is seeking a compassionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive special school in Wakefield from September. This full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity is ideal for someone with experience supporting students with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and who is confident providing personal care.
You will be working closely with the class teacher and wider support staff to enable each child to access a personalised curriculum, regulate emotions, and achieve individual learning and development goals.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism, PMLD, or SLD
* Confidence in delivering or assisting with personal care, including toileting and hygiene routines
* Knowledge of SEND support strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, sensory regulation, visual schedules)
* A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
* Ability to follow EHCP targets and collaborate with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs
* A passion for inclusive education, safeguarding, and helping students achieve their potential
