Commercial Workshop Controller Vacancy in Kidderminster
1. Salary: £45,000 basic | OTE £52,000
2. Hours: 07:00 – 16:30; Monday to Friday + Saturday rota.
This is a key leadership position responsible for managing the flow of work through the workshop, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and to manufacturer and company standards. You will oversee Technician productivity, maintain high quality levels, and ensure the workshop operates profitably while delivering excellent customer service.
You will play a vital responsibility in supporting, developing, and motivating the workshop team while maintaining compliance with all company and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities as a Commercial Workshop Controller:
18. Ensure all workshop processes are followed for every job
19. Pre-time and allocate work to technicians to maximise productivity
20. Monitor job progress and ensure deadlines are met
21. Obtain authorisation for additional work where required
22. Oversee MOT quality standards and first-time pass rates
23. Ensure all inspections are fully signed off and compliant
24. Identify warranty items and ensure correct documentation is completed
25. Audit job packs before they are processed for invoicing
26. Monitor workshop loading and technician performance
27. Ensure customer vehicles are completed and communicated back to service reception
28. Maintain workshop cleanliness, safety, and organisation
29. Support and supervise junior staff and apprentices
30. Manage technician training and development
31. Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate where required
32. Ensure compliance with DVSA, trading standards, health & safety and other statutory regulations.
Requirements as a Commercial Workshop Controller:
33. Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or Mechanical Engineering
34. Strong technical background with passenger car knowledge
35. Previous experience as a Senior Technician or Workshop Controller
36. Process-driven with strong organisational skills
37. Leadership and team management ability
38. Able to prioritise work and manage a busy workshop environment
39. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
40. Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
