AMHP (Approved Mental Health Professional) - Children's Experience | Emergency Duty Team (EDT) | Harrow
Harrow Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) with a strong background in children's services to join their dynamic Emergency Duty Team (EDT). This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled practitioner who thrives in fast‑paced, out‑of‑hours environments and is passionate about delivering high‑quality support to vulnerable children, young people, and families.
About the Role
As part of Harrow's EDT, you will provide urgent social care interventions outside normal working hours, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays. You will:
* Undertake Mental Health Act assessments in line with AMHP duties
* Respond to emergency safeguarding concerns for children and families
* Work collaboratively with partners across health, police, housing, and other agencies
* Make defensible decisions that prioritise safety, dignity, and wellbeing
* Use your professional judgement to manage complex and high‑risk situations
* Contribute to an integrated, supportive, and resilient EDT service
About You
* Is a qualified and warranted AMHP
* Has significant experience in children's social care or work with young people
* Can work independently and think clearly under pressureHas excellent communication and multi‑agency working skills
* Is confident in managing crisis situations and making sound decisions
