About the Role
Royal Mail is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager for its Chelmsford site. You will play a pivotal role in driving cultural change, overseeing the performance of your Workshop(s) with accountability for key Maintenance scorecard indicators, including Safety, Legal, Cost, People, and Stakeholder performance measures.
This is an exciting time to join the Royal Mail Fleet team as we work towards net zero, aiming for an all-electric delivery fleet by 2035. The role involves managing vehicle assets, maintenance, repairs, and fuel and supplier contracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with legal and safety policies, meet safety targets, and deliver maintenance services while optimizing costs using resource planning and booking tools.
* Improve the efficiency of Fleet Workshops to meet industry standards and implement changes efficiently.
* Engage, communicate, and coach the Fleet Workshop team to support their development.
* Achieve targets, including customer SLAs, through effective performance management.
* Maintain ISO 9001 quality standards and support continuous improvement activities within Workshops.
* Manage local IR interfaces, working collaboratively with union colleagues to deliver change.
You will also oversee mobile sites and sub-locations under your control.
About You
You must be fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3) in Light or Heavy vehicle maintenance & repair or equivalent. You should have proven leadership experience in dispersed maintenance operations.
You should also be able to:
* Manage and build stakeholder relationships effectively.
* Influence and deliver results through people.
* Manage relations with Trade Union partners.
* Lead, develop, and coach teams to improve performance.
* Be flexible to cover multiple shift operations and willing to travel within your area.
