The role Due to our continued success, First Actuarial have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our fast-growing Employee Benefits (EB) team in Tonbridge. As an Associate Consultant, you will provide support to the existing team, and if you want, gradually develop your knowledge and skills to become a fully-fledged Consultant. We are looking for the right people to fit our business You should have first-rate numerical skills and a strong academic performance, and ideally you will have experience in working in DC pensions, and Group Protection and Healthcare services (i.e., group life assurance, group income protection, group critical illness, private medical insurance, and health cash plans). In addition, you will have the following skills: Communication – be an excellent communicator who understands how to express complicated ideas in a simple, concise, and clear way, and the ability to develop your communication approach as your exposure to clients increases; Characteristics – a can do, enthusiastic approach to tackling problems, and a desire to build positive relationships with your colleagues and clients; Self-discipline – determined and motivated to meet the demands of studying and working full-time; Organisation – Excellent time management skills and workload prioritisation; Problem solving – an agile mind able to examine challenges from various aspects. Responsibilities Associate Consultants are responsible for a variety of tasks from complex calculations and modelling, Group Protection and Healthcare renewals, rebroking and claims, to clear communications and preparing advice. Keeping up to date with the latest pensions and employee benefits news and legislation is an essential part of delivering our services. You’ll be responsible for: Liaising with clients and benefit providers by telephone, e-mail and at meetings; Meeting deadlines and requirements on a portfolio of corporate clients; Drafting standard and bespoke advice and communications; Supporting consultants with meetings, including gathering / analysing data, preparing reports, and joining meetings taking minutes; Supporting the implementation of new clients, including pension provider review & selection, scheme design, salary exchange implementation and employee workshops; Group protection, healthcare and pension provider research; Developing opportunities in Financial Wellbeing; Expanding your wider employee benefits knowledge and staying up to date on benefits and pension issues; Not all the work we do is traditional consultancy work – you probably know that we often challenge conventional thinking.
