Position Overview As a Supermarket Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across various departments including: Shop floor (stocking shelves, customer assistance) Till operation (serving customers, handling payments) Back-office support Warehouse depot (stock handling, deliveries, logistics) You’ll be at the heart of delivering excellent customer service and keeping the store running efficiently and safely. Key Duties & Responsibilities Depending on department, your responsibilities may include: Shelf Stacking & Replenishment Replenishing stock on shelves throughout the store Ensuring product displays are neat, tidy, and fully stocked Rotating stock and checking for expired or damaged items Cashier / Till Operation Operating POS tills accurately and efficiently Handling cash and card payments Assisting customers with purchases and returns Maintaining a clean and tidy checkout area Customer Service Greeting and assisting customers on the shop floor Answering queries or directing customers to appropriate departments Maintaining excellent store presentation and cleanliness Warehouse / Stockroom Receiving, checking, and organising deliveries Unloading stock from lorries or vans Maintaining accurate inventory records Using trolleys, cages, and warehouse equipment safely General Store Support Cleaning and sanitising work areas and customer-facing zones Complying with health & safety and food hygiene regulations Supporting colleagues and working as part of a team Assisting during busy periods or seasonal demand What We’re Looking For Enthusiastic, positive attitude and team-player mindset Strong work ethic and timekeeping Good communication and interpersonal skills Able to lift, carry, and move stock as needed Flexible and adaptable to different tasks and departments No previous experience required – full training will be provided.
