As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a central role in designing, deploying, and supporting complex platforms across hybrid environments, combining on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching), which makes you a CGI Partner rather than just an employee.
Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain it.
This role is available in Gloucester and London.
Your Future Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and supporting infrastructure across hybrid environments, combining on-premises systems with cloud platforms.
You will contribute to secure, scalable, and automated infrastructure solutions using containerisation, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native tooling.
You will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple sites as part of an agile team, troubleshooting complex issues, optimising performance, and delivering new capabilities. Your work will directly support critical national security systems, where reliability, compliance, and innovation are essential.
Key responsibilities:
* Design & Deploy: Build and manage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
* Innovate & Automate: Implement Kubernetes-based platforms, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
* Secure & Govern: Apply infrastructure security, compliance, and governance best practices
* Troubleshoot & Resolve: Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues
* Monitor & Optimise: Use observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK
* Collaborate & Deliver: Work across agile teams and stakeholder groups to drive continuous improvement
Required Qualifications to Be Successful in This Role

* Platform engineering and CNCF ecosystem familiarity
* Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
* GitOps tooling such as Argo CD
* Scripting (Python or Shell)
* Container orchestration tools (e.g., Docker Swarm, Apache Mesos)
